About pizza.co.nz
pizza.co.nz first went online in December 1997. It was a hand-built page with a clickable map of New Zealand, and an invitation to email in your favourite pizza places. Readers obliged, and by the early 2010s the site listed 180 places in 17 regions, each with a recommendation from whoever sent it in.
In 2026 the server was wiped. This version was rebuilt from copies kept by the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine, with every listing and reader comment carried across.
How listings work
- Website still online: we checked the place's website recently and it's up. For chains, that means the brand is still going, not necessarily that branch.
- From the archives: sent in by readers between about 2000 and 2012. We can't confirm these are still trading. Their old websites link to Internet Archive copies, because lapsed web addresses often get taken over by spammers.
- New places and corrections come from readers through the add a place form, and a person checks each one before it goes up.
There are no ads and no tracking on this site. Near me works out distances on your own device; your location isn't sent to us or anyone else.
Map positions of listings come from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors). Older listings are placed by the address readers sent in, so some are approximate.
